Baby's First Troubles

Baby's First Troubles

There’s a particular kind of desperation that arrives around week four, when your baby has been crying for hours, you’ve tried everything, and you’re on your phone at 2am searching symptoms one-handed. Colic, reflux, an allergy, something worse — the internet will offer you all of it, plus a hundred products promising to fix it.

Most of them won’t. Some things genuinely help, some things need a doctor, and telling the difference when you’re this tired is nearly impossible. But this stage won’t last forever. You’ll get to know your baby, learn what settles them, and slowly start to feel more confident in knowing when they need comfort, when they need time, and when they need to be seen.

And trust your instincts. You know your baby better than anyone. If something doesn’t feel right, it’s always okay to get them checked.

For the Nights That Feel Endless

Navigating this stage can be hard, and finding reliable, practical support when you’re in the middle of it can be just as difficult.

Your little one is uncomfortable, and there are plenty of reasons why. Sometimes they’re simply overtired, overstimulated or having a difficult day. Other times, there may be something that needs a little more attention — colic, reflux, cow’s milk protein allergy or lactose intolerance can look surprisingly similar from the outside, but they’re managed very differently. Knowing what to look out for and what to raise with your healthcare provider can make a real difference.

There are a few things here that may help support you along the way, but a single product is very unlikely to be the whole answer. Talk to your GP, paediatrician or trusted healthcare team when you’re concerned, and most importantly, trust your instincts. You know your baby, and if something doesn’t feel right, it’s worth asking.
