Lacson Laxative Syrup is an oral laxative containing lactulose, used for the relief of constipation. Lactulose works gently by drawing water into the bowel, which helps soften stools and supports easier, more regular bowel movements. It comes in a 150 ml bottle and is taken by mouth, either on its own or mixed with water or another suitable drink.
Because the active ingredient is lactulose, this syrup works with the body's natural rhythm rather than forcing an immediate result — relief may take 24 to 48 hours. It can be used by adults and children when taken according to the age-specific dosing, and may be used in infants under medical guidance. In higher doses, lactulose may also be prescribed for hepatic encephalopathy associated with chronic liver disease, though that use requires medical supervision.

How to Use
Measure each dose accurately using a medicine measure. The syrup may be taken alone or mixed with water or another suitable drink. Where possible, take it at the same time each day, and drink adequate fluids unless a healthcare professional has advised fluid restriction. Adjust the dose only according to the package insert or professional advice.

Each 5 ml contains 3.3 g of lactulose. Store below 25°C, keep the bottle tightly closed, and protect from excessive heat and direct sunlight. Do not use after the expiry date.

Seek medical advice before use if you have severe abdominal pain, vomiting, a swollen abdomen, unexplained weight loss, rectal bleeding, a sudden change in bowel habits, diabetes, galactosaemia, or a chronic gastrointestinal condition.
Consult a healthcare professional if constipation persists despite treatment, if there is severe or worsening abdominal pain, blood in the stool, vomiting, a markedly swollen abdomen, or no bowel movement with worsening discomfort — or if a child is not feeding, passing urine, or gaining weight normally. Constipation in infants and children should be assessed if it is persistent, recurrent, or associated with pain, vomiting, blood in the stool, poor growth, or abdominal distension. Do not rely on long-term laxative use without medical review.
Possible side effects may include bloating, flatulence, abdominal cramps, nausea, and diarrhoea. These are often more noticeable when starting treatment or when the dose is too high. Reduce the dose and seek advice if diarrhoea is persistent or severe. Lacson Syrup is intended for the relief of constipation and, under medical supervision, for selected liver-related conditions. It is not a substitute for medical assessment where symptoms are severe, persistent, recurrent, or associated with red-flag symptoms.
