The Spectra Silicone Valve for Handsfree Kit is a set of two replacement duckbill valves made specifically for the Spectra Handsfree Collection Cups (also sold as the Spectra CaraCups Wearable Milk Collection Inserts). These soft, one-way silicone valves are a milk-path wear part — they sit at the base of the cup, between the flange and the collection bottle, and help the pump hold its vacuum so your session works the way it should.
Valves are one of the parts that wear out with regular use. Because the silicone flexes every time the pump cycles, even a small tear or hole can let a valve stop sealing properly, which is often the reason a pump starts feeling like it has lost suction. Keeping a fresh set on hand means you can swap them out quickly and get back to a comfortable, effective pumping routine.
How it works
- One-way duckbill design: The valve opens to let expressed milk pass through into the bottle, then closes again, which helps the pump build and maintain suction between the cup and your breast.
- Seal-dependent performance: A valve that is intact seals cleanly on each cycle; once it develops a tear, the pump can lose suction, which is the signal it is time to replace it.
- One-piece construction: With no separate membrane to fit, the valve is simple to take apart, rinse and reassemble.
How to use
Fit each valve into the bottom of the flange, between the flange and the milk collection bottle. Spectra recommends replacing the valves ideally every 3 months, or sooner if you notice a tear, hole or a drop in suction. They are quick and easy to swap, and suit single or double pumping.
Materials
Made from hospital-grade silicone that is BPA- and DEHP-free.
Best For
The Spectra Silicone Valve for Handsfree Kit is a great option for parents who:
- Use the Spectra Handsfree Collection Cups (CaraCups) and want genuine replacement valves
- Have noticed weaker suction and suspect a worn or torn valve
- Like to keep a spare set on hand so a small worn part never interrupts a session
It may not be the right fit if you:
- Are using standard Spectra breast shields — these Handsfree valves are smaller and are made for the collection cups, so you would need the standard Spectra Silicone Valves instead
Disclaimer
These valves are designed specifically for the Spectra Handsfree Collection Cups and will not fit other Spectra parts. If you are pumping with standard breast shields, look for the standard Spectra Silicone Valves.
Pandylane Pro Tip: If suction suddenly feels weaker, check the valves before assuming the motor is at fault — a tiny tear in a duckbill valve is one of the most common and easily fixed reasons a pump stops pulling as it should.
