The Sophie la Girafe Musical Phone is a light-up, sound-making pretend phone that gives babies from three months and up something to open, press and listen to. Styled as a hinged clamshell with a familiar cast of characters, this musical toy phone brings together simple actions and cheerful feedback — the kind of press-and-listen play that little ones can control themselves.

Open and close the clamshell at will and Josephine the mouse, Gabin the bear and Sophie la girafe appear one after the other on the screen. Press the numbered keys to trigger fun sounds, and let five lively melodies play while the colours change in rhythm with the music. It's designed to be easy to hold in small hands, with number keys large enough for a baby or toddler to see and play with.

What baby can do with it

This is early cause-and-effect play at its most hands-on: an action the child controls leads to a response they can see and hear. Opening the clamshell reveals a new character, and pressing a key produces a sound — a repeatable loop that invites babies to explore and experiment. The changing colours and melodies add gentle visual and auditory interest, giving little ones plenty to notice and return to.

How it works

  • Hinged clamshell: Opening and closing the phone makes Josephine the mouse, Gabin the bear and Sophie la girafe appear on the screen in turn, so each open is a small discovery.
  • Press-to-play keys: The large numbered keys trigger fun sounds when pressed, letting baby drive the play with simple finger presses.
  • Music and light: Five lively melodies play alongside colours that change with the rhythm of the music, pairing sound with visual movement.

Best For

The Sophie la Girafe Musical Phone is a great option for parents who:

  • Want a first sound-and-light toy suited to babies from three months and up
  • Are looking for something sized for small hands with large, easy-to-see keys
  • Like the recognisable Sophie la girafe and friends design world

It may not be the best fit if you:

  • Prefer a quieter toy with a volume control or off switch, which isn't specified here
  • Are shopping for an older child who has outgrown simple press-and-listen play

Runs on 3 AAA (LR3) batteries, which are included, so it's ready to play straight away.
