The Pigeon Minilight Pacifier is a silicone dummy (soother) designed for non-nutritive sucking — the comfort sucking babies do when they're settling rather than feeding. Its stand-out feature is weight: this is Pigeon's lightest pacifier to date (among Pigeon pacifier products), which is intended to help baby latch onto it and keep it in their mouth for longer without it slipping out. The super soft silicone teat is shaped to let baby move their tongue naturally, while large ventilation holes in the shield improve airflow around the mouth.
This particular pacifier is part of Pigeon's Sustainable Collection, so alongside the everyday job it does there's a little more to the story — both in how it's made and the designs it carries. It's a considered choice if you'd like a comfort soother that also reflects where and how it was produced.
Designed to sit lightly in baby's mouth
- Ultra-lightweight design: Reducing the weight is intended to ease the effort of holding the dummy in place, helping baby retain it for longer and reducing stress on their jaw.
- Super soft silicone teat: The teat is soft and shaped to allow natural tongue movement during sucking.
- Ventilated shield: Large airflow holes on the shield help reduce moisture build-up against the skin and the likelihood of irritation, while also allowing air through if the shield rests against baby's face.
- Easy-hold button lid: The ergonomic button is designed to give you an easy grip when offering or removing the pacifier.
The Sustainable Collection and The Animal Project
The Minilight is made with 20% ISCC-certified bio-based plastic (via a mass-balance approach), and comes in packaging made from FSC-certified paper — part of an effort to reduce reliance on virgin plastic. This special edition is a collaboration with The Animal Project (TAP), which champions the work of artists with autism. Each pacifier carries a unique, hand-drawn character design, and a share of the proceeds from every purchase goes to those artists. It's a way to bring together everyday function, more thoughtful materials, and social inclusion in a single product. The teat is silicone rubber, while the cover, shield and lid are made from a blend of biomass and standard polypropylene. It's also BPA free.
Choosing the right size
The Minilight is available in sizes matched to baby's developmental stage, so it's worth choosing by age rather than assuming smaller is better:
- S: 0 to 3 months
- M: 3 to 6 months
- L: 6 to 18 months
Cleaning and sterilising
Clean and sterilise the pacifier before the first use and before every use after that:
- Wash with warm water and mild soap, then rinse well.
- Sterilise the pacifier and allow it to cool.
- Wash your hands before handling the sterilised pacifier.
- Squeeze the teat and shake the pacifier upright to remove any trapped water.
- If you're not using it straight away, store it in a dry, covered container.
For boiling or steaming, place the washed pacifier in water, bring to the boil, and sterilise for 5 minutes once boiling. Chemical and microwave sterilisation are also possible — use products made specifically for baby bottles and teats and follow their instructions. Note that with chemical sterilisation, printing may fade over time. Avoid abrasive cleaning agents.
Disclaimer
Inspect the pacifier carefully before each use, especially once baby has teeth, and pull the teat in all directions to check it. Throw it away at the first sign of damage or weakness, and for hygiene and safety, replace it after one to two months of use. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat, and don't leave it in sterilising solution longer than recommended, as this can weaken the teat. Keep the removable teat protector (hood) away from children to avoid the risk of suffocation. Never dip the soother in sweet substances or medication, as this can cause tooth decay. If the soother becomes lodged in the mouth, do not panic — it cannot be swallowed, and the two holes in the shield allow breathing; remove it gently and carefully. As with any dummy, offer it as part of your usual settling and don't use it to postpone a feed — check for hunger cues first. Keep clips, cords and attachments off it during sleep and follow safe-sleep guidance for baby's sleep space.
