NUK First Choice Temperature Control Bottle 300ml

The NUK First Choice Temperature Control Bottle 300ml is a wide-neck baby bottle with a built-in colour-changing indicator that gives you a quick visual cue to the temperature of the milk inside. Part of the NUK First Choice+ system, it pairs a soft, asymmetric silicone teat with a generous 300ml capacity — a practical option for older babies and larger feeds, whether you're feeding expressed milk or formula.

The Temperature Control Indicator sits within the bottle's measurement scale and looks like a small thermometer. It shows a medium blue tone at around body temperature (roughly 37°C, the usual guide for feeding) and turns white when the contents are too hot, so you can see at a glance where the milk is at before you move on to the wrist-check stage.

A teat shaped for natural sucking

At the centre is the NUK First Choice orthodontic silicone teat. Its asymmetric shape — a curved upper surface and flatter underside — is modelled on the shape of a mother's nipple during breastfeeding, and is designed to leave your baby's tongue and jaw room for natural sucking movements. A soft zone on the teat is shaped to sit more comfortably against the roof of the mouth. The teat has a medium flow hole, which NUK recommends for formula feeding.

Depending on the option you select, the bottle comes with either a Size 1 (0–6 months) or a Size 2 (6–18 months) orthodontic silicone teat, both with a medium flow hole — so it's worth checking the variant you're choosing to match your baby's stage.

Anti-Colic Air System

The teat includes NUK's Anti-Colic Air System, a valve designed to let air into the bottle during feeding so a vacuum doesn't build up as your baby drinks. The idea is to help baby feed more continuously with less air swallowed. As with any anti-colic design, this describes how the bottle is built rather than a guaranteed outcome for a particular baby, and ensuring a good seal around the teat helps too.

Materials and everyday handling

The bottle is made from high-quality, BPA-free polypropylene (PP) and manufactured in Germany. It's lightweight, boil-proof and heat-resistant for daily use, and the extra-wide neck makes filling, pouring and cleaning quicker. Clear graduations help with measuring feeds.

Part of the First Choice+ system

Because it's fully modular, this 300ml bottle works with the rest of the NUK First Choice+ range, so you can swap teats, caps and accessories as your baby grows without replacing the whole bottle. NUK notes that First Choice+ bottles, teats and accessories are interchangeable within the First Choice range and the Evolution Cup range, including Learner cups and NUK soft-spout and hard-spout Active Cups.

How to use and care

Before first use, place the bottle in boiling water for five minutes, using enough water to avoid damage. To keep things hygienic, clean it thoroughly with a mild washing-up liquid and sterilise before each further use, always taking the bottle apart into its separate components before boiling or steam-sterilising. For hygiene and safety, NUK recommends replacing the teat after two months, or sooner if you notice any tears or cracks.

The NUK Temperature Control indicator is intended as an additional check only — always check the temperature manually before feeding, for example by putting a few drops on the inside of your wrist.
