Milton Sterilising Tablets offer a simple way to cold-water sterilise your baby feeding and breastfeeding equipment without a machine or a plug point. Each tablet dissolves in cold water to make up a sterilising solution, so you can keep bottles, teats, breast pump parts, soothers and more clean and ready — at home, while travelling or during overnight stays.

These tablets are formulated to kill 99.9% of germs in 15 minutes, and once made up, the prepared solution stays effective for up to 24 hours. That means you can prepare one batch in the morning and keep adding cleaned items through the day, rather than running a new cycle every time. Because there's no electricity involved, they're a handy backup to keep on hand for load-shedding, travel, or anywhere a steam steriliser isn't practical.

What you can sterilise

The made-up solution suits baby bottles, teats, breast pump parts, soothers, teething rings, plastic cutlery, weaning bowls and small plastic toys. It's a versatile option if you're juggling several types of feeding gear. Note that the tablets are not suitable for use on metal items or surfaces.

Made to fit smaller batches

A full tablet makes up 5 litres of solution, but each tablet is divisible into four portions — so when you only need to sterilise a couple of items, you can split a tablet and reduce the water proportionally rather than mixing up a full container. The compact format packs down easily, which makes them convenient to tuck into a hospital bag, weekend bag or nappy bag. The active ingredient is Troclosene Sodium, and the tablets contain no ingredients of animal origin.

How to Use

Milton Sterilising Tablets can be used for feeding equipment as well as household disinfection. The method differs for each, so follow the relevant steps below.

Sterilising baby items
  1. Clean: Wash bottles, teats, breast pump parts and other items thoroughly in warm, soapy water, then rinse well.
  2. Prepare the solution: Fill a clean sterilising container with 5 litres of clear, cold water. Add one tablet and allow it to dissolve completely. For smaller quantities, divide the tablet and reduce the water volume proportionally.
  3. Immerse the items: Fully submerge all items, making sure there are no trapped air bubbles.
  4. Wait: Leave the items completely immersed for at least 15 minutes.
  5. Rinse before use: Remove the items and rinse with cooled boiled water before use.

Items may stay in the solution for up to 24 hours, and additional cleaned items can be added during this time. Prepare a fresh solution every 24 hours. Fill bottles as soon as possible after removing them from the solution, and keep sterilised teats covered until needed.

Household disinfection

Dissolve three tablets in 5 litres of cold water. Leave the solution in contact with the surface for 15 minutes, then rinse with water and allow to dry. The prepared household disinfecting solution remains effective for 24 hours.
