The Maccie Summer Sleep Sack is a lightweight, breathable wearable blanket made for warm nights. Designed by South African moms with our hot summers in mind, it's a bamboo muslin sleep sack that keeps your little one covered without the loose blankets that get kicked off during the night — an arms-out, blanket-free sleep option for babies and toddlers.
What sets it apart is the fabric and the cut. Each sack is crafted from two layers of a premium blend of 70% silky-soft bamboo and 30% breathable cotton muslin, chosen because natural fibres let warmth escape rather than trapping it the way heavier synthetics can. Add the signature wider bell shape and a two-way zip down the middle, and you have a sleep sack that's easy to live with on sticky summer nights.
How it works
- Breathable bamboo muslin: Two layers of 70% bamboo and 30% cotton muslin allow heat to move away from the body instead of trapping it, which is why it suits warm weather and climate-controlled nurseries.
- Signature wide bell shape: The extra-wide bell bottom creates a natural air pocket that helps keep fabric from clinging to hot skin, while giving your baby ample room to kick and wiggle.
- Sweat-wicking comfort: Bamboo naturally absorbs and pulls moisture away from the skin, which helps reduce the dampness, friction and heat irritation that can lead to uncomfortable summer night wakings.
- Two-way zip access: Unzip from the bottom for quick, fuss-free midnight nappy changes without exposing your baby's chest to a cool air-conditioner breeze or ceiling fan.
Comfortable, secure and easy to move in
Because a sleep sack replaces loose covers rather than restricting the arms, your baby can move freely. The generous cut leaves plenty of room for natural leg and hip movement, and the tagless neck and soft seams help protect delicate skin from irritation. Staying in place also makes it a practical alternative to a blanket that ends up on the floor by morning.
It comes in three sizes designed to grow with your baby, from the early months through to around 36 months, so you can move up as your little one does.
Best For
The Maccie Summer Sleep Sack is a great option for parents who:
- Want a lightweight, breathable sleep sack for warm weather or a climate-controlled nursery
- Prefer a blanket-free alternative to loose bedding
- Are moving on from swaddles to an arms-out style that allows more movement
It may not be the best fit if you:
- Need a warmer, higher-TOG sack for cold winter nights
- Have a newborn who still settles better with their arms contained in a swaddle
Care
Machine wash on a cold, gentle cycle and skip the dryer — hang or lay flat to dry, and pointing a fan towards it helps speed up indoor drying. Always zip it up completely before washing to protect the inner quilting, and don't wash it inside out.
A note on safe sleep
For infants, always place baby on their back on a firm, flat, level sleep surface with a clear sleep space. Check that the neck and arm openings fit correctly so the head can't slip inside, and use the room temperature and your baby's base layers to guide how much to dress them underneath. Follow the sizing and care instructions on the product.
