The FirstView Ovulation Test is an at-home ovulation predictor kit designed to help women who are trying to conceive naturally get a clearer picture of their fertile window. Each test strip detects the luteinising hormone (LH) surge in urine — the sharp rise that usually happens shortly before ovulation — so you can identify the days in your cycle when conception is most likely. The kit includes 25 individually wrapped strips, giving you enough to test across your cycle and build up a picture of your own pattern over time.
What sets these strips apart is the extra-wide 5 mm design, which makes them easier to handle and makes the result lines easier to see and interpret. Results appear within 5–10 minutes, and reading them is straightforward: a test line that is as dark as or darker than the control line indicates a positive result. The tests are suitable for both regular and irregular cycles, and results can be uploaded to a compatible free ovulation-prediction app if you'd like to track your trends digitally.
How it works
- LH surge detection: Luteinising hormone is normally present in urine at low levels, then rises sharply shortly before ovulation. The strip detects this surge, which can help identify the days when conception is most likely.
- Reading the lines: A test line as dark as or darker than the control line is a positive result, suggesting a surge has been detected and that ovulation may occur soon. A lighter test line, or no test line, means a surge has not yet been detected.
- Control line: The control line confirms the test has performed correctly. If no control line appears, the result is invalid — discard that strip and repeat with a new one.
- Up to 99% accurate: When used as directed, the strips are up to 99% accurate at detecting the LH surge.
How to use
- Collect urine in a clean, dry container.
- Remove one strip from its sealed wrapper.
- Dip the strip into the urine for 5–10 seconds, taking care not to immerse it beyond the MAX line.
- Remove the strip and place it flat on a clean, dry surface.
- Read the result within the time window stated in the supplied instructions — typically 5–10 minutes.
Do not interpret the result after the maximum reading time, as evaporation lines or other changes may affect interpretation.
Digital tracking with the app
If you prefer to keep records digitally, results can be uploaded to a compatible free ovulation-prediction app. Depending on the app, you may be able to track LH trends, estimate fertile days, record your menstrual-cycle history, review previous results, add basal body temperature data, track PdG results, and view fertility trends over time. The app is provided by an independent third-party developer, so availability, accuracy, and features may change.
Best For
The FirstView Ovulation Test is a great option for parents-to-be who:
- Are trying to conceive naturally and want to identify their fertile window at home
- Prefer wider strips that are easier to handle and read
- Have regular or irregular cycles and want enough strips to test across the month
- Would like the option of logging results in a fertility-tracking app
It may not be the right fit if you:
- Are looking for a method of contraception — these tests should not be used as your sole method of contraception
- Need confirmation that ovulation has definitely occurred, which an LH test cannot provide
Pandylane Pro Tips
Pandylane Pro Tip: Avoid excessive fluid intake for at least two hours before testing, as diluted urine may reduce the hormone concentration the strip is trying to detect. Test at roughly the same time each day, and don't use first morning urine unless your instructions specifically recommend it. For longer or irregular cycles, you may need to keep testing for more days — keeping a record of your results helps you spot your individual pattern over time.
Disclaimer
Ovulation tests detect an LH surge but do not confirm that ovulation has definitely occurred, and some cycles may include more than one surge. Certain fertility medications, hormonal conditions, pregnancy, recent pregnancy, menopause, and some medical conditions may affect results. This product is intended to assist with home fertility tracking; it does not replace professional medical assessment, diagnosis, contraception advice, or fertility treatment. Keep out of reach of children. Seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional if your cycles are persistently irregular, you do not detect a surge over several cycles, you have been trying to conceive without success, you have concerns about ovulation or fertility, or you are using fertility medication. Store in a cool, dry place, protected from moisture, direct sunlight, and excessive heat; do not freeze, and keep each strip sealed until immediately before use. Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.
