Medical Aid Claims
Get the most value out of your maternity benefit by claiming approved devices such as breast pumps, baby apnea monitors, thermometers, humidifiers, nebulisers, and more. With Pandylane, you can order an approved device from us and have it covered by your medical aid with no extra dispensary fees!
What does medical aid approved mean?
Medical aid approved means that the product has undergone a verification process to ensure it meets strict safety, quality, and efficacy standards. In South Africa, this verification is conducted by the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA), the governing body responsible for regulating medical devices and products.
What devices can I claim for?
You can claim for devices registered with the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) and assigned a NAPPI code. These include breast pumps, select baby monitors, thermometers, humidifiers, nebulizers, nasal aspirators, and certain consumable products.
Your ability to claim and the extent of your coverage depend on your specific medical scheme, plan, and benefits. There may be conditions or requirements you need to meet to qualify for a claim. We recommend contacting your medical scheme to get detailed information about your coverage and eligibility.
How do I know if a device is approved or not?
If a device is approved, it will be indicated on the product page!
Do I need to pay upfront?
It depends on your medical scheme arrangement:
- If we have an arrangement with your scheme (e.g., CAMAF), we can submit your claim directly, so you won’t need to pay upfront. If your claim exceeds your benefits, any copayment amount will be discounted by 10%.
- If we don’t have an arrangement with your scheme, you will need to pay upfront and claim back from your scheme.
Can I get my products urgently?
We understand that unexpected situations can happen, and we’re here to help.
If your baby arrives earlier than expected, please reach out to us, and we’ll do our best to get your products to you as quickly as possible.
Do I need a script from my doctor to claim?
Whether you need a prescription from your doctor to claim for certain medical aid-approved devices depends on your scheme’s requirements. To find out if a prescription is necessary, please contact your scheme directly for more information.
Are there any fees or extra costs for claiming?
There are no additional fees for submitting a claim with Pandylane.
How long does this process usually take?
It depends on how your claim is submitted:
- Direct Submission to Your Scheme: If we submit your claim directly to your scheme, it may take up to 2 weeks for the claim to be processed and payment to be made to us. Once we receive payment and any required copayments, we will process your order and ship it to your delivery address.
- Pay Upfront and Claim Back: If you pay upfront, we will process your order and provide you with an invoice to submit to your scheme. You can expect this process to take around 2-7 business days.
What secure payment methods do you accept?
We accept a variety of secure payment methods through trusted partners, including:
- EFT: Transfer funds via an EFT directly into our bank account. Please send proof of payment to us, and note that your order will only be dispatched once the payment has reflected in our account.
- Paystack: Supports Credit & Cheque Cards (Visa & Mastercard), Debit Cards (Visa & Mastercard), Instant EFT (Absa, Capitec, FNB, Investec, Nedbank, Standard Bank), Scan to Pay, and SnapScan.

What if my scheme doesn’t cover the device I have ordered?
We highly recommend reaching out to your scheme before purchasing any devices you intend to claim back.
If you are unsure whether your scheme will cover the device you’ve chosen, please keep the device unopened, sealed, and in its original packaging. This way, if there are any issues with your claim, we can accept your return according to the terms of our return policy.
If you’re experiencing issues with your scheme, please reach out to us, and we’ll do our best to assist you!
