The SoPure Hand Sanitiser is an alcohol-free, spray-on hand sanitiser for those moments when soap and water aren't within reach — a nappy change on the go, before a feed, after an outing, or when visitors arrive. Made in South Africa, it's formulated for use on both your own and your little one's hands, giving you a rinse-free option that dries without a sticky residue.
Rather than alcohol, SoPure uses a hypochlorous acid (HOCl) formulation made from purified water and salt. It's pH neutral, free from added fragrance and chemicals, and SoPure describes it as a non-toxic, biodegradable formulation that's gentle on skin. It's vegan-approved and not tested on animals. SoPure states that it kills 99.9% of germs when used as directed, and that it has been tested and approved for use in South Africa and the USA. It comes in a range of sizes, from a 100 ml bottle for your changing bag through to a 5 litre refill for the home.
How it works
- HOCl formulation: The active ingredient is a mixed oxidant, hypochlorous acid (HOCl), at less than 190 ppm, made from purified water and salt — the reason SoPure can offer sanitising without alcohol.
- Contact time matters: The formulation needs around 5 minutes of contact time on the hands to do its job, so let it stay wet rather than wiping it off straight away.
- Works best on clean hands: Like any sanitiser, it isn't a substitute for washing visibly dirty hands. SoPure's own directions ask that hands are clean before you apply it.
When used as directed, SoPure lists the formulation as effective against a broad range of organisms, including E. coli, Coliforms, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, Listeria monocytogenes, Aspergillus niger, Enterococcus hirae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB), Polio virus, Herpes simplex virus and Hepatitis A.

What it does: Acts as the sanitising agent, allowing SoPure to work without alcohol or added fragrance. Why it works: This mixed oxidant is produced from just water and salt, keeping the formulation pH neutral and free from added chemicals while still targeting germs. |
How to use

- Wipe dry with a clean cloth if you need to.
Best For
The SoPure Hand Sanitiser is a great option for parents who:
- Want an alcohol-free, rinse-free hand sanitiser for use on their own and their baby's hands
- Prefer a fragrance-free, pH-neutral formulation that dries without a sticky feel
- Like the reassurance of a locally made, vegan and biodegradable product
It may not be the best fit if you:
- Need something for visibly dirty hands, where soap and water are the better option
- Are looking for an instant-dry sanitiser, as this formulation needs contact time to work
Storage & safety
Store upright and out of the reach of children, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. A hand sanitiser is not a replacement for washing hands with soap and water where that's available, and it should not be used on visibly dirty hands. In case of accidental contact with the eyes, rinse thoroughly with water. In the event of skin irritation or ingestion, contact the Poisons Information Centre on 021 689 5227 and seek medical advice.
