The Pigeon Nipple Puller is a compact breastfeeding accessory designed to gently draw out flat or inverted nipples before a feed, so your baby has more to latch onto. Using a soft shield and a hand-pumped bulb, it creates a mild, controlled suction that coaxes the nipple outward gradually — a small step that can make settling into a feed feel smoother and less stressful for both of you.
If you've found that a flatter or inverted nipple makes latching tricky, this is a simple tool to reach for in the moments just before feeding. It's made from a durable polypropylene casing with a soft silicone rubber bulb, is BPA- and BPS-free, and comes apart easily for cleaning. A storage casing is included, so it's easy to keep clean and tuck into a nappy bag for use away from home.
How it works
- Gentle air suction: Squeezing and releasing the bulb draws a mild vacuum through the shield, which encourages the nipple to protrude.
- Gradual extension: The action is designed to extend the nipple gently and gradually, repeated over a few pumps rather than all at once.
- Latch support: By drawing the nipple outward first, it's designed to help your baby latch on more easily at the start of a feed.
How to use
- Use just before breastfeeding. Press the shield closely against the centre of the nipple.
- Pump the bulb to draw the nipple out, easing off if you feel any discomfort.
- Repeat several times until the nipple is extended enough to allow your baby to latch.
After each use, detach the bulb from the shield and wash both parts in a mild cleanser such as Pigeon Liquid Cleanser, then rinse well. Both parts can be sterilised in boiling water for 5 minutes, or by steam or chemical sterilisation using products intended for baby feeding equipment — always following that product's instructions. Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
Best for
The Pigeon Nipple Puller is a great option for parents who:
- Have flat or inverted nipples and want to draw the nipple out before a feed
- Are looking for a simple, hand-operated tool with no batteries or power needed
- Want something small and easy to clean that travels well
A note on support
This is a comfort and positioning tool, not a fix for every feeding difficulty. Early tenderness can be normal, but pain at every feed, cracking or bleeding, or a baby who isn't latching or feeding well are worth discussing with a lactation consultant or your healthcare provider, who can look at what's happening for you and your baby.
