Returns Made Easy

Unfortunately, we can’t accept returns on this product once it’s been opened. This is usually because:

If there’s a defect or fault, though, it’s always covered as a warranty claim.

The NUK First Choice Soother is a silicone dummy designed to support your baby's natural need for non-nutritive sucking — the sucking for comfort rather than for milk. Part of NUK's established First Choice system, it uses the brand's asymmetric, orthodontic teat shape and comes with a sturdy, reusable box that doubles as a hygienic storage case and sterilising transport box. This version is sized for the 0–6 month stage.

Dummy acceptance is very individual, and no single shape suits every baby — but the First Choice teat is shaped with a soft zone on top and a slim profile intended to sit comfortably in the mouth. It's BPA free, made in Germany, and complies with the European safety standard EN1400.

How the teat is designed

How to use and care for it

  1. Before first use, place the soother in boiling water for 5 minutes, using enough water to avoid damaging it.
  2. Before every further use, clean thoroughly with a mild washing-up liquid and then sterilise. NUK recommends the NUK Steriliser.
  3. After cleaning or sterilising, press out any residual liquid from the mouthpiece and leave the soother to dry.
  4. Do not clean the soother in a dishwasher, as detergents can damage it.

Sizing as baby grows

As your baby grows, the size of the palate grows too, so the teat proportions change across stages. NUK First Choice soothers come in 0–6 months, 6–18 months and 18–36 months, so you can move up to the next stage when it's the right time for your baby. This listing is the 0–6 month size.

Disclaimer

Always consider whether your baby is hungry before offering a dummy — rooting, mouth opening and hand-to-mouth movements can signal a feed is needed, and a dummy shouldn't delay one. For breastfed babies, many parents wait until breastfeeding is well established before introducing routine dummy use. Never attach cords, clips or toys to a dummy during sleep, and follow safe-sleep guidance for your baby's sleep space. Inspect the soother regularly and replace the silicone soother after 1–2 months of use, or sooner if you notice any tears, cracks, stickiness or discolouration.
