The Maxi-Cosi See Pro Baby Monitor is a Wi-Fi video baby monitor that pairs a dedicated 5" parent screen with a companion app, so you can keep an eye on your little one from the next room or from anywhere you have an internet connection. It streams a live picture in Ultra HD 2K through the app and on a 720p (1280 x 720) parent screen, with night vision, remote pan, tilt and zoom, and sound and movement notifications — a set-up that suits parents who want a proper camera view rather than audio alone.

What sets the See Pro apart is CryAssist, an app-based technology powered by Zoundream. On top of detecting your baby's cry and alerting you, CryAssist is designed to interpret that cry and help you understand whether your baby seems Sleepy, Fussy, Hungry, Gassy or Agitated, along with tips on how to soothe them. Crying is how a newborn communicates, and in those early weeks when you're still learning the language, having a little extra guidance can take some of the guesswork out of the moment.

Camera and night viewing

The camera records in Ultra HD 2K resolution and offers night vision up to 10 m, so you can check on your baby in the dark without disturbing them. Remote pan, tilt and zoom let you move the view around the room, and a 4x zoom on the parent screen (with pinch-and-zoom in the app) lets you look more closely when you want to. Motion detection and tracking follow movement in the frame, and the camera picks up sound and movement — crying, wriggling and fussing — to trigger notifications.

Parent screen, battery and range

The 5" LCD parent screen connects to the camera directly via FHSS peer-to-peer technology, which means it works for streaming without Wi-Fi. Range on the parent screen reaches up to 50 metres indoors and up to 200 metres outdoors, and varies depending on your surroundings and layout. If the parent screen loses connection to the camera, it sends an offline alarm — a sound and a notification — after around 3 to 5 seconds. Battery life runs 72–96 hours (3–4 days) with sleep mode activated, where the screen only wakes when something happens in the room, and it recharges fully in 2–3 hours. The screen can also display two cameras at once, useful if you add a second unit for a sibling.

Connection and remote access

The See Pro is compatible with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is required for the initial pairing with the Maxi-Cosi Connected Home app and to use CryAssist; once the monitor is on your home Wi-Fi and your phone has an internet connection, you can check in from anywhere via the app. The device connects to one Wi-Fi network at a time — to switch networks, you restart the device. You can also use the monitor without the app entirely and simply stream on the parent screen.

Extra features for settling and comfort

Beyond the camera, the See Pro includes two-way audio so you can talk or soothe from another room, five programmable sleep-inducing lullabies and two white noise sounds, plus temperature and humidity monitoring with notifications when levels change in the nursery. You can set up personalised routines through the app or parent screen, and video and photos can be saved optionally to an SD card or to cloud storage.

How CryAssist works

• Cry detection and alert: When your baby's cry is detected you're notified instantly, so you know something has changed in the room.
• Cry analysis: Powered by Zoundream and backed by scientific research, each cry is analysed and, within up to 30 seconds, matched to one of five types — Sleepy, Fussy, Hungry, Gassy or Agitated — with soothing tips.
• Background filtering: The technology is designed to distinguish your baby's cries from background and street noise.
• Cooldown: There is a 5-minute cooldown period between translations, and a free six-month subscription is included, which you activate whenever you're ready.

How to Use

1. Place the monitor around 2 to 2.5 metres from your baby (further in a quiet room), generally in the room where your baby sleeps.
2. Wall mount it looking down on your baby or place it on a sufficiently high piece of furniture, using the included 30° tilt wedge mount for an angled view.
3. Download the Maxi-Cosi Connected Home app and follow the steps to pair the monitor over Wi-Fi for the first time.
4. Enable notifications in the app or parent screen settings for movement, sound, crying, and temperature and humidity changes, and choose the alert types you want.
5. Activate sleep mode on the parent screen to extend battery life, so the screen only turns on when something happens in the room.
