The Maxi-Cosi Nomad XL Plus is a compact, folding forward-facing car seat built to travel with you and grow with your child, from 15 months (76 cm) right up to 12 years (150 cm). It's a Group 1/2/3 seat, which means it starts in harness mode for younger children and later converts to a belt-positioning booster — so it's designed to be the one car seat that carries a child through the whole stage between toddlerhood and the point they no longer need a restraint.

What sets the Nomad XL Plus apart is that it folds down for storage and transport. At just 6.2 kg and 44 cm wide, it's easy to lift out, move between cars, and pack away when you're not using it — handy if you switch between your own car, the grandparents' car and taxis, or want to take it along when you travel. It comes with a travel bag, and because of its slim width you can fit up to three seats side by side across a standard backseat.

Long-lasting use from 15 months to 12 years

The Nomad XL Plus is designed to suit a child from 15 months (76 cm, 9 kg) up to 12 years (150 cm, 36 kg). For younger children it uses the integrated 5-point harness; once your child reaches 100 cm (roughly 4 years, or a maximum of 18 kg), the harness stores away inside the seat and it converts to booster mode, where the vehicle's own belt secures your child. The adjustable headrest has 13 height positions so the fit can keep pace as your child grows.

How it works

  • Two modes in one seat: In harness mode the seat secures your child with its integrated 5-point harness; from 100 cm it converts to a belt-positioning booster that guides the vehicle's own seat belt across your child.
  • ISOFIX and top tether installation: For children up to 4 years the seat must be installed using the ISOFIX connectors and the top tether. From 4 years the top tether becomes optional, though the ISOFIX connectors can still be used for added stability.
  • G-CELL Side Impact Protection: An always-on structure built into the side panels and headrest that is designed to spread the force of a side collision and help reduce injuries.
  • Compact fold: A release button at the back lets the seat fold flat into a 46 x 53 x 23 cm package for storage or transport.

Comfort as they grow

Five recline positions let you find a comfortable angle whether your child is sitting up and enjoying the ride or dozing off — available in harness mode up to 105 cm / 4 years, using a release handle at the front and centre of the seat. The covers are made from soft, 100% recycled fabrics, spun from the equivalent of 17 recycled rPET bottles, and can be wiped down with a damp cloth or machine washed up to 30°C.
