The Love to Dream Stage 2 Original Swaddle Up Transition Bag is a transitional sleep sack designed to help your baby move on from swaddling once they start showing signs of rolling — while keeping some of the snug, secure feeling they're used to. It's the natural next step after an arms-in swaddle: the patented zip-off wings let you free one arm at a time, so the change to arms-free sleep happens gradually rather than all at once.
Once both wings are removed, the bag converts into a roomy sleeping sack with no loose layers for your little one to kick off during the night. The ARMS UP™ design lets baby sleep in their natural arms-up position, giving them the freedom to move and settle themselves. It's made from a single layer of soft fabric (93% cotton, 7% elastane) with a 1.0 TOG rating, so it suits moderate room temperatures.
How it works
- Zip-off wings: The patented wings unzip so you can free one arm at a time, easing your baby from a wrapped swaddle into arms-free sleep at their own pace.
- ARMS UP™ position: The wing shape allows baby's arms to rest up near their face, their natural resting position, giving them room to move and self-soothe.
- Twin zipper: The two-way zip opens from the bottom for quick nappy changes without fully undressing your baby or breaking their sleep.
- Covered zippers: The zips are covered so baby can't pull or chew on them during sleep.
- Single-layer construction: One layer of fabric means no loose blankets to kick off, and it's designed to help reduce the risk of overheating.
- Certified 'hip-healthy' design: The lower shape allows the recommended flexion for baby's hips and legs, keeping them in a natural position.
Choosing the right warmth
TOG (Thermal Overall Grade) is a measure of how much thermal insulation a garment provides — the higher the TOG, the warmer it is. This bag's 1.0 TOG fabric is ideal for room temperatures between 20°C and 24°C, which makes it a good fit for moderate climates. When the room is warmer or cooler, it pairs with Love to Dream™ layers so you can adjust warmth without adding loose blankets.
Everyday use
The simple zip design means there's no scratchy hook-and-loop or complicated wrapping to work out — handy for grandparents and caregivers, and for the middle of the night. It's machine washable and tumble dryer friendly, so it stands up to a regular laundry routine.
Best For
The Love to Dream Stage 2 Original Swaddle Up Transition Bag is a great option for parents who:
- Have a baby showing signs of rolling and are ready to move on from an arms-in swaddle
- Want a gradual, one-arm-at-a-time transition to arms-free sleep
- Prefer a wearable sleep sack over loose blankets
- Have a nursery that sits in the 20°C–24°C range, or plan to layer for warmth
It may not be the best fit if you:
- Have a newborn who still needs a fully arms-in swaddle
- Have a consistently warm room, where a lighter TOG may be more comfortable
Pandylane Pro Tip: You don't have to unzip both wings at once — start with one arm free for a few nights so your baby gets used to the change, then remove the second wing when they've settled into it.
Please note
Fire safety labelling: WARNING — HIGH FIRE DANGER, KEEP AWAY FROM HEAT AND FLAME. As with all sleepwear, always place your baby on their back on a firm, flat, level sleep surface, and follow the garment instructions for your baby's stage.
