The Love to Dream Stage 1 Lite Swaddle Up is a zip-up swaddle designed to let your baby sleep in a natural ARMS UP™ position, with both arms bent up towards the face rather than wrapped down by their sides. This is the Lite version, made from a single layer of lightweight 0.2 TOG fabric, which makes it well suited to warmer rooms and South African summer nights where you want to keep baby snug without adding warmth.
Unlike a traditional wrap, there's no folding or tucking involved. You simply zip your newborn in for a snug, secure fit in seconds, with no fabric working loose during the night. It's a practical option if you like the containment of a swaddle but want something quicker to use and easier to get right at 2am.
How the Swaddle Up works
- ARMS UP™ position: Patented wings hold your baby's arms up and bent so they can reach their hands and face, the position many babies naturally settle into.
- Zip-in fit: No wrapping required — you zip baby in for a snug fit, with no breakouts from little arms wriggling free.
- Single-layer fabric: One breathable layer of 97% cotton and 3% elastane, designed to feel light and to help reduce the risk of overheating in warm rooms.
- Twin (two-way) zipper: Opens from the bottom so you can manage nappy changes without unzipping the whole swaddle.
- Hip-healthy design: Certified 'hip-healthy', it allows the recommended flexion and movement for baby's hips and legs.
- No loose layers: The snug fit means there are no blankets or loose layers for baby to kick off.
Choosing the right TOG for the room
TOG (Thermal Overall Grade) is a measure of how much warmth a garment provides — the higher the TOG, the warmer the product, though a higher rating doesn't necessarily mean thicker fabric. This Lite Swaddle Up carries a 0.2 TOG rating, which Love to Dream suggests for room temperatures between roughly 24°C and 27°C. If your nursery runs cooler, a higher TOG option in the range may suit the season better. TOG guidance is a starting point rather than a rule — room temperature, base layers and your individual baby all play a part.
Sizing
The Swaddle Up Lite comes in a range of sizes from Newborn upwards, sized by your baby's weight rather than age alone, so it's worth checking the size guide against baby's current weight to get the snug fit the swaddle relies on.
Best For
The Love to Dream Stage 1 Lite Swaddle Up is a great option for parents who:
- Want an arms-up swaddle for a newborn who hasn't yet started to roll
- Are dressing baby for warmer rooms, around 24°C to 27°C
- Prefer a quick zip-up swaddle over traditional wrapping
- Want easy nappy-change access overnight
It may not be the best fit if you:
- Have a baby who is starting to show signs of trying to roll — that's the point to move on from a swaddle
- Have a cooler nursery that runs below 24°C, where a higher TOG may be more comfortable

Disclaimer
Swaddling has an ability-based stopping point. Stop using the Swaddle Up as soon as your baby shows any signs of trying to roll, and always follow the instructions supplied with the product. Always place your baby on their back to sleep on a firm, flat, level surface within a clear sleep space, and dress them for the room temperature to avoid overheating.
