Haakaa Multipurpose Steamer and Steriliser Bag

The Haakaa Multipurpose Steamer and Steriliser Bag is a reusable microwave steam bag that gives you a simple, no-nonsense way to sterilise baby's small items at home or on the move. Made from 100% food-grade silicone, it uses steam to treat washed feeding parts, dummies, teethers and other microwave-safe gear — all you need is water and a microwave, which makes it a practical option to keep on hand for travel or as a backup to a larger unit. It's designed to earn its place beyond sterilising, too. The same bag can be used to quickly steam vegetables and other foods suitable for steaming while you cook, or folded flat and used as a travel and storage bag. Lightweight and compact, it's a reusable, durable alternative to single-use plastic steam bags.

How it works

• Microwave steam: Add water to the base, place your washed, microwave-safe items inside, seal the top and microwave — the water turns to steam to sterilise the contents.
• Measured water line: A clear measurement and indication line shows exactly how much water to add, and you fill only to the indicated line (100ml) when sterilising for the process to work as intended.
• Secure closure: A sealing strip and buckle close the bag firmly, which minimises the risk of leakage.
• Side vent: A vent on the side must stay unobstructed at all times so steam can escape safely during use.

Made for everyday use and travel

The broad base keeps the bag stable and upright while it's in use, and a built-in storage loop lets you hang it to dry between uses. When you're done, it folds down small for compact storage and has an easy-carry handle, so it slips into a bag for crèche, holidays or a day out — as long as there's a microwave to hand.

The 100% food-grade silicone withstands extreme temperatures and is fridge, freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe. It's also BPA-, PVC- and phthalate-free.

How to Use

1. Wash the bag and your items before use.
2. Add water to the base, filling only to the indicated water line (100ml) when sterilising.
3. Add your washed, microwave-safe items and close the top with the sealing strip and buckle.
4. Check that the side vent is unobstructed, then place the bag in the microwave.
5. Remove with care using a towel or oven mitts — the bag will be filled with hot water and steam, which may cause serious burns. Do not tip the bag when removing it from the microwave.

For steaming food, choose only foods suitable for steaming. To clean, hand wash with warm, soapy water (it is dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended), rinse and dry thoroughly. Use only soft-bristle brushes or soft sponges, avoid bleach-based cleaners and tablets, and wash immediately after steaming to help minimise discolouration. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.

Cleaning must always come before sterilising — items should be washed first. Use this bag with microwave-safe items only. Do not use it on stovetops, in ovens, or on or under grills. Heating for longer than recommended, or using more or less water than instructed, may mean sterilisation is not effective or may warp the contents.
