The Haakaa Gen 2 Silicone Breast Pump is a manual, one-piece silicone pump that uses gentle natural suction to express and collect milk — no cords, batteries or assembly required. It's a quiet, hands-free way to catch let-down while you nurse on the other side, build up a freezer stash, or express a little milk at home or while you're out. If you're after a simple manual breast pump or silicone milk collector to slip into your routine, this is a low-fuss option that's easy to set up and just as easy to clean.
Made from 100% food-grade silicone, the pump is soft and flexible, with a one-piece design that has no joints, cracks or edges where bacteria could hide. It holds up to 100ml and sits on a suction base that helps prevent accidental spills, so you can rest it on a flat surface between uses. Compact, lightweight and silent, it tucks neatly into a handbag or nappy bag for discreet expressing wherever you happen to be. It's available in two sizes — 100ml and 150ml.
How it works
- Natural suction: You squeeze the base to create gentle suction against the breast, which draws milk into the pump — there's no motor or battery involved.
- Hands-free once attached: Once it's secure and comfortable and milk begins to flow, you can leave the pump to do its work while you sit back or feed on the other breast.
- One-piece hygiene: With no joints or seams, there are fewer places for bacteria to gather, keeping the milk path simple to clean.
How to use
- Sterilise your pump before first use by boiling in water for 2–3 minutes.
- Place the flange over your nipple, making sure it's centred comfortably in the neck of the pump.
- Apply suction by squeezing the base — you may need to adjust the position a couple of times until it feels secure and comfortable.
- Once milk begins to flow, leave the pump alone to do its thing.
- When it's full, empty the milk into a safe storage container and reposition.
- If the flow slows or you've expressed enough, stick the suction base to a flat surface while you finish feeding or redress.
- Clean and sterilise after each use, and avoid bleach-based cleaning agents.
Cleaning and care
The pump is dishwasher and steriliser safe and can also be boiled. It's BPA-, PVC- and phthalate-free. When cleaning, avoid bleach-based agents to keep the silicone in good condition.
Best for
The Haakaa Gen 2 Silicone Breast Pump is a great option for parents who:
- Want a simple, quiet manual pump they can use without cords, batteries or setup
- Would like to catch let-down from one breast while nursing on the other
- Are looking for a compact, travel-friendly way to express discreetly at home or on the go
It may not be the best fit if you:
- Need to express larger volumes regularly and would prefer an electric double pump
- Want adjustable suction and cycle settings
Pandylane Pro Tip: To encourage let-down, place a warm flannel on your breast and massage gently before you start. Attaching the pump to one breast while baby feeds on the other is an easy way to catch milk that would otherwise be lost to a nursing pad.
