The ergoPouch Sleep Suit Bag 3.5 TOG is a convertible winter sleep sack that changes from a sleeping bag into a sleep suit with legs, using its clever 4-way zippers. Rated at 3.5 TOG for cooler room temperatures of 17–23°C, it's a warm, arms-out sleep bag designed to keep your little one cosy through the night without any loose blankets in the cot. It's a practical option whether you have a newborn who sleeps best in a bag, or a wriggling toddler moving into leg freedom.
The outer is made from 400 thread count GOTS certified organic cotton with a silky-smooth, easy-care woven feel — a little like a good flat sheet on your own bed. Stretchy side and shoulder panels in organic jersey cotton are ergonomically shaped so your child can move freely and is less likely to get tangled, while the bell-shaped bottom leaves plenty of room for growing hips in either mode.
Two ways to wear it
In Bag mode it works like a regular sleeping bag. Switch to Suit mode and the lower zips reconnect to form two separate legs — ideal for little movers who like more leg freedom, and for toddlers and pre-schoolers transitioning from a cot to a bed. In Suit mode the legs aren't restricted, which the design aims to help reduce the risk of cot-climbing injury, and grip pads on the feet help keep your child steady on their feet. The four-way zippers also make overnight nappy changes and toilet training far easier, so you're not wrestling a full garment off in the dark.
Warmth from organic cotton
The breathable GOTS certified organic cotton is designed to help your little one maintain an even temperature through the night. Because the 3.5 TOG rating already provides the warmth for a 17–23°C room, there's no need to add blankets to the cot. The stretchy organic jersey sleeves are a soft, fleecy fabric rated at 1.0 TOG for a little extra warmth on chilly nights, and they finish with fold-over cuffs and mitts to keep small fingers and hands warm too.
How to use it
In Bag mode
- Use it like a regular sleeping bag, opening only the upper zips to dress.
- Put your child's legs in first (upright or lying down), pull it up over the shoulders, then put the arms in last and zip up.
- For a nappy change or toilet break, undo the lower zips about three-quarters of the way down, remove the legs and lower torso as needed, then pop the legs back in and zip up.
In Suit mode
- Undo the zips in the lower portion of the pouch.
- Connect the front left zip to the back left zip and zip up to the crotch, then repeat on the right to form two legs.
- Dress your child by opening the upper zip only, putting the legs in first in an upright position, then the arms.
- For a nappy change or toilet break, undo the lower leg zips about three-quarters of the way down, then zip back up when finished.
Getting the right size
This sleep suit bag comes in two sizes: 3–12M (chest 31 cm, length 80 cm; to fit 6–12 kg and 62–84 cm) and 2–4Y (chest 35 cm, length 105 cm; to fit 92–108 cm). A correct fit matters for both comfort and safe sleep, so choose according to your child's weight and height rather than age alone.
Best For
The ergoPouch Sleep Suit Bag 3.5 TOG is a great option for parents who:
- Want a warm sleep bag for cooler rooms around 17–23°C without adding blankets
- Have a wriggler or mover who prefers leg freedom, or a toddler moving from cot to bed
- Are toilet training and want easy overnight access through the 4-way zippers
- Prefer arms-out sleeping with soft, warm sleeves and fold-over mitts
It may not be the best fit if you:
- Have a warmer room, where a lower TOG rating would suit better
- Need a swaddle with contained arms for a young baby
Disclaimer
Always follow current safe-sleep guidance: place your baby on their back on a firm, flat, level surface with a clear sleep space. Choose the correct size for your child's weight so the bag doesn't ride up around the face. This 3.5 TOG version is intended for sleep and should not be used in a car seat. Note that only the 0.3 TOG and 1.0 TOG versions are approved for use in a 5-point harness. This garment is made from organic cotton and is not treated with chemical fire retardants, so the white fire label applies under AS/NZS 1249:2014. Machine washable on a gentle cold wash; do not use bleach-based stain removers.
