The ergoPouch Sleep Suit Bag 1.0 TOG is a convertible sleep garment that works two ways: as a wearable sleeping bag, and — with a quick change of the zips — as a sleep suit with separate legs. It's a practical option for the stage where a swaddle or plain sleeping bag no longer suits a little one who wants to move, offering the security of a sleeping bag with the freedom of a sleep suit when they need it.
The clever part is the four-way zipper system, which lets you switch between bag and suit mode and makes overnight nappy changes and toilet-training trips far easier to manage. Rated at 1.0 TOG, it's designed for warmer rooms, and because it does away with the need for loose blankets in the cot, it fits neatly into a clear, uncluttered sleep space.
Two garments in one
In sleeping bag mode, the bell-shaped bottom gives plenty of room for growing hips and legs. Switch to sleep suit mode using the four-way zippers, and the separate legs give little wrigglers and movers the leg freedom they prefer, as well as suiting toddlers and pre-schoolers making the move from cot to bed. Grip pads on the feet help keep your child steady on those overnight walks to the bathroom (or into your room), and the design is hip-friendly in both modes. It's an arms-out garment, so there's no arm restriction — a natural fit once your child is past the swaddling stage.
Made from GOTS certified organic cotton
The outer is a 400 thread count organic cotton with a silky-smooth, easy-care woven finish — much like the feel of a flat sheet on your own bed. The stretchy side and shoulder panels are made from organic jersey cotton and ergonomically shaped so your little one can move freely without getting tangled during sleep. All ergoPouch fabrics are dyed with non-toxic, water-based dyes, and the Sleep Suit Bag is reviewed by the Eczema Association of Australasia as a skin-friendly product. The design is also feeding-tube friendly and fully machine washable.
Understanding the 1.0 TOG rating
TOG is a measure of thermal insulation — the higher the number, the warmer the garment. The 1.0 TOG Sleep Suit Bag is suited to room temperatures of roughly 21–24°C / 70–75°F. Because it's TOG-rated, there's no need for additional blankets in the cot, which keeps the sleep space clear. The breathable, GOTS certified organic cotton is designed to help your child maintain an even temperature while sleeping. Each Sleep Suit Bag comes with a free room thermometer and a What to Wear guide, so you can layer appropriately underneath for the conditions in the room.
Suit mode for day sleeps on the go
Because the 1.0 TOG version is not padded, in sleep suit mode it can also be used with a 5-point harness — handy for day sleeps in a pram on a walk, or in a car seat. This makes it a versatile pick if your little one naps as easily out and about as they do at home. It's available in a range of sizes, from 3–12 months right up to 6–8 years, sized by your child's weight and height.
Best For
The ergoPouch Sleep Suit Bag 1.0 TOG is a great option for parents who:
- Have a mover or wriggler who prefers leg freedom over a closed sleeping bag
- Are transitioning a toddler or pre-schooler from a cot to a bed
- Want the flexibility of one garment that works both at home and in a pram or car seat
- Are navigating overnight toilet training and want easy zip access
- Prefer a lightweight, breathable option for warmer rooms of around 21–24°C
It may not be the best fit if you:
- Still need to contain a young baby's arms — this is an arms-out design
- Are dressing your child for a cooler room, where a higher TOG rating would be more appropriate
A note on safe use
For a secure fit, the Sleep Suit Bag should sit correctly around the neck and armholes so your child can't slip through. In legs mode, make sure there's enough length at the end of the suit for your child to move their feet freely. Note that the 5-point harness use above applies to this non-padded 1.0 TOG version — padded 2.5 TOG and 3.5 TOG Sleep Suit Bags should not be used in a 5-point harness or car seat. As with any sleep product, always follow current safe-sleep guidance and place baby on their back in a clear, firm, flat sleep space.
