Difrax XS 1-2-3 Variflow Preemie Teat

The Difrax XS 1-2-3 Variflow Preemie Teat is an extra-small replacement teat developed for the smallest babies — premature babies or babies with feeding difficulties for whom a size S teat still runs too fast. It gives you three adjustable flow rates in a single teat, so you can slow the flow of breast milk or formula right down and match it to how your baby is feeding on any given day.

The teat is made from extra-soft, BPA-free silicone with a soft coating that gives baby a little more grip while drinking. At the top there's an S-shaped slit that releases liquid in doses as baby feeds, and the flow rate changes depending on which of the three positions you set it to. It's designed to fit the Difrax S-bottle Natural in the 170 ml and 250 ml sizes, and the whole teat comes apart for cleaning.

How the 1-2-3 ring works

How to use and adjust it

The supplied 1-2-3 ring holds the XS Variflow teat on the S-bottle, and a green ring lets the teat rotate within the bottle's teat ring. To change the flow, twist the teat ring slightly off the S-bottle, then turn the teat so that the position you want (I, II or III) sits under baby's nose. Close the ring again and carry on with the feed.

Before each feed, check that the S-shaped slit is open and not sticking together. Gently squeezing the tip of the teat between your thumb and index finger loosens the silicone and gets it ready to use. The teat is dishwasher safe and fully disassemblable, so you can take it apart to clean it thoroughly.
