The Difrax Silicone Pinky Premie Pacifier is a two-pack of soft silicone dummies made for premature and newborn babies who are still learning to suck. Unlike a standard dummy, it has a hollow back that lets you hygienically slip in your clean little finger to gently encourage baby's sucking reflex — a thoughtful feature designed to support those first weeks, when building an effective suck matters so much for feeding.
Made from 100% silicone, the Pinky is taste-free and allergy-free, with a soft, small butterfly-shaped shield scaled for a tiny face. As baby grows and gains confidence, it can also be used as a regular pacifier, so it stays useful well beyond the newborn stage. It was recognised with the 2024 International Red Dot Design Award for its design and functionality.
How it works
- Finger-guided sucking: The back of the pacifier is designed so you can insert a clean little finger, creating a firm grip that gently stimulates baby's sucking reflex while they practise.
- Butterfly-shaped shield: The soft, small silicone shield is contoured to sit snugly against a delicate face without pressing on the surrounding skin.
- Extra air holes: Openings in the shield allow airflow where it rests against the skin, which helps prevent irritation and keeps baby comfortable.
- Doubles as a dummy: Once baby is sucking confidently, the Pinky functions as an ordinary pacifier, giving it versatility as your little one grows.
Caring for the Pinky
The one-piece silicone is easy to clean. Rinse with warm water and a mild soap before the first use and after every use. For extra hygiene, the pacifiers can be sterilised in boiling water for a few minutes. Always make sure they are completely dry before giving one back to baby.
Best for
The Difrax Silicone Pinky Premie Pacifier is a great option for parents who:
- Have a premature or newborn baby who is still learning to suck effectively
- Want a dummy with a finger feature to help encourage the sucking reflex
- Prefer a small, soft silicone shield sized for a tiny face
- Like the idea of a pacifier that can also be used conventionally as baby grows
It may not be the best fit if you:
- Are looking for a shaped or orthodontic teat for an older baby
- Prefer a natural-rubber latex dummy
A note on safe use
Difrax recommends replacing the pacifier every six weeks. Check it daily by pulling firmly on the teat to make sure it is undamaged, and replace it straight away if you notice any wear or damage. A dummy is for non-nutritive sucking, so always consider whether baby is hungry first — rooting, mouthing and hand-to-mouth movements can signal a feed is needed. Follow safe-sleep guidance and never attach clips, cords or toys to a dummy during sleep.
