The Carmien Mom-To-Be Rooibos Tea Blend with Folic Acid is a caffeine-free pregnancy tea made from a blend of rooibos, folic acid, dandelion, ginger and fennel. It's formulated to be a gentle, warming drink you can reach for during pregnancy — designed to help ease some of the common symptoms that come with it, while supplying nutrients that support the development of a healthy baby. Each box contains 20 teabags.
Rooibos forms the naturally caffeine-free, sugar-free base, and the surrounding ingredients each bring something to the cup: ginger for nausea, fennel for digestive comfort, dandelion for its nutrient content, and folic acid, one of the nutrients most associated with early pregnancy. It's an easy way to work a comforting ritual into your day, whether you enjoy it plain or with a little milk, honey or a slice of lemon.
Key Ingredients
| Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) |
What it does: Forms the naturally caffeine-free, sugar-free base of the blend. Why it works: It contains aspalathin, a potent antioxidant that may help protect the body from oxidative stress, and may support weight-management efforts as part of a balanced lifestyle. |
| Folic Acid |
What it does: Supplies folate, a nutrient essential for healthy fetal development. Why it works: Folate and folic acid help prevent neural-tube defects, and adequate intake is especially important before conception and in early pregnancy, as the neural tube develops within the first 28 days. It may also help reduce the risk of certain congenital abnormalities, maternal anaemia, miscarriage, premature delivery and low birth weight. |
| Ginger |
What it does: Adds a warming note to the blend. Why it works: Ginger may help reduce nausea during pregnancy. |
| Fennel |
What it does: Rounds out the flavour with a mild aniseed note. Why it works: Fennel may help relieve flatulence and digestive discomfort. |
| Dandelion (leaf and root) |
What it does: Contributes nutrients including vitamins A and C, iron, calcium, potassium and trace elements. Why it works: Dandelion leaf is traditionally used as a mild diuretic and may help reduce water retention, while the root is traditionally associated with supporting liver function. |
How to Use
- Steep one teabag in 250 ml of pre-boiled water (100°C).
- Leave to infuse for 5–10 minutes, or according to taste.
- Enjoy with or without milk, honey, sugar or a slice of lemon — best at around 60°C.
Do not boil the teabags, as this may cause the plant-based teabag to tear open. The teabags are made with Fibre+, a non-plastic filter paper that offers a more sustainable alternative.
