The Beurer BM 35 Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor is a fully automatic home device that measures blood pressure and pulse on the upper arm, with built-in arrhythmia detection. It's designed for keeping track of your readings between appointments or as part of a monitoring routine your healthcare professional has asked you to follow, giving you a clear picture of how your blood pressure changes over time. It is an approved medical device in the EU and a SAHPRA-approved medical device in South Africa.
Taking a reading is straightforward: the cuff wraps around your upper arm, the device inflates and deflates automatically, and the large LCD display shows your systolic and diastolic pressure, pulse, and the date and time. It comes fitted with a cuff for upper arm circumferences of 22–36 cm, and an XL cuff for circumferences of 30–42 cm is available separately if you need a larger fit.
How it works
- Fully automatic measurement: The device inflates, measures and deflates on its own, so you simply fit the cuff and let it run.
- Inflation technology: Automatic pressure preselection and measurement during inflation are designed to make each reading quicker and more comfortable.
- Arrhythmia detection: If an irregular heartbeat is detected during a measurement, the device alerts you with a warning sound. Always consult a healthcare professional if you are alerted.
- WHO risk indicator: A colour-coded scale classifies your reading according to the World Health Organization's guidelines, helping you see where a result sits.
- Error messages: The monitor flags common issues, such as a cuff that isn't attached properly or can't inflate correctly, movement or talking during the measurement, or readings that are unusually high or low.
Track your readings over time
Because blood pressure fluctuates naturally, single readings tell you very little on their own — it's the pattern over time that's meaningful. The BM 35 supports up to 2 user profiles with a total of 120 memory slots, storing 60 readings each, so two people can keep their own history on one device. The averaging function lets you view the average of all stored measurements, along with separate morning and evening averages for the last 7 days.
If you'd rather keep a digital record, the Scan & Save feature works with the free Beurer HealthManager Pro app. Even though the BM 35 doesn't have Bluetooth, you can scan your displayed values with your smartphone camera and save them straight into a personalised digital blood pressure diary in the app — no more writing figures down by hand.
How to use
Blood pressure changes throughout the day, so consistent conditions matter for readings you can compare:
- Rest for 5 minutes beforehand, and avoid measuring within 30 minutes of eating, drinking, smoking or exercising.
- Sit still with your feet flat on the floor, your arm supported on a flat surface, and the cuff at heart level. Don't talk during the measurement.
- Measure twice daily — in the morning after getting up and in the evening — at the same time each day.
- If you're repeating a measurement, wait 5 minutes between readings.
- Measure on the same arm each time, ideally the one that gives higher readings; minor differences between arms are normal.
Best for
The Beurer BM 35 is a great option if you:
- Want to keep track of your blood pressure at home under consistent conditions
- Share a device with someone else and want two separate stored histories
- Prefer to log readings digitally without needing a Bluetooth connection
- Value clear error prompts and an easy-to-read display
It may not be the best fit if you:
- Have an upper arm circumference outside 22–36 cm and would prefer not to buy the XL cuff separately
- Prefer a wrist-based monitor
Disclaimer
This device measures and records blood pressure and pulse; it does not diagnose or rule out any condition, and readings must be interpreted within your own care plan. Always consult your healthcare professional about your readings and if the arrhythmia alert sounds — home monitoring supports, but does not replace, professional medical care. The accuracy of this monitor has been clinically checked (see the specifications for details). It is best not to use rechargeable batteries. Avoid using the device near or stacked with other electronic equipment, as electromagnetic interference from items such as mobile phones may cause errors or display failures.
