As a registered provider with a valid BHF practice number, we can help Bankmed members claim for approved devices. This matters more than it might seem — Bankmed can only refund claims for medical and surgical appliances bought from a BHF-registered healthcare professional, so purchases from general retailers (however convenient) simply won't qualify.

Simply shop online or in-store, add your Bankmed details to your cart, pay upfront, and submit your claim to Bankmed for reimbursement.

BankMed Coverage

Cover for breast pumps and baby monitors varies by plan. On the Essential Plan, there's no benefit for these devices. On the Traditional Plan, they're covered up to a combined limit of R9,145 per family per year, shared with other chronic appliances under your Medical and Surgical Appliances benefit. On the Core Saver, Comprehensive and Plus Plans — all Medical Savings Account-linked options — these devices are funded from your available MSA. Whichever plan you're on, Bankmed will only pay out on a claim from a provider with a valid BHF practice number.

How To Claim

To claim, simply shop your approved devices, add your Bankmed details to your cart, and checkout as normal. We'll then email you a detailed invoice containing all the information Bankmed requires, including our BHF practice number and the relevant ICD-10 and NAPPI codes — essential, since Bankmed can't refund claims for devices bought from a provider without valid BHF registration. Submit this to Bankmed through the member portal or app, and they'll reimburse you according to your plan benefits.

STEP 1

Check Your Coverage

Check with your scheme to confirm if they will cover the items you want to purchase, and how much coverage is available.

If they need a proforma just get in touch with us and we'll help create one for you.

STEP 2

Order Online & Pay at Checkout

Because we can't submit to your scheme directly, you'll need to pay upfront at checkout. Make sure you include your medical aid details in the cart or add them after checkout.

A few minutes after your order is confirmed and paid, we'll send you an email with your invoice that you can submit to medical aid. The invoice will have our practice number, the products' NAPPI codes, as well as other codes your medical aid would need to process the claim successfully.

STEP 3

Submit Your Claim

Once you receive the invoice, you can submit it directly to your scheme for reimbursement. The medical aid will acknowledge receipt of your claim and will provide you with a reference number.

STEP 4

Reimbursement

Your medical aid will process the claim, and if they approve it, they will reimburse you directly based on your benefits and coverage.

STEP 5

You Receive Your Order

As soon as the order is paid it will be processed by our team to start getting it packed and ready for delivery or collection. Your order may be in your hands before medical aid has processed it.
