If you're running a reusable nappy system, you'll know that everyday detergent isn't always the right fit for the job — this one is designed to lift stains and odours from nappy fabrics while staying gentle on the textiles you're washing over and over again. It's South African made and comes in a 5-litre bottle, which suits the regular wash cycles that come with cloth nappying.

According to SoPure, the formulation disinfects fabrics and eliminates odours, leaving laundry with a fresh orange scent. It's described as 100% non-toxic, biodegradable, sensitive-skin friendly and not tested on animals — free from optical brighteners, nonylphenols, petrochemical surfactants, synthetic fragrances, parabens and synthetic dyes.

Why it suits a cloth nappy routine

Cloth nappies live a demanding laundry life, so the detergent you choose matters. SoPure's wash is formulated to be tough on stains and odours while remaining gentle on fabrics, which helps your nappies hold up to frequent washing. Its enzyme-rich formulation targets the kinds of soiling nappies deal with, and the orange-derived scent comes from Citrus Aurantium flower oil rather than synthetic fragrance — a point worth noting if fragrance sensitivity is a concern in your home.

How to Use

Separate colours and whites before washing.

For heavy soiling or odours, pre-soak the nappies in cold water with one capful for 30 minutes.

Wash as normal, then rinse well.

Use 30 to 60 ml for every 6 kg load, depending on how soiled the nappies are.

Because the dose scales to load size and soiling, a 5-litre bottle stretches across a lot of washes before you need to restock.

Best For

The SoPure Cloth Nappy Detergent is a great option for parents who:

Wash reusable cloth nappies regularly and want a detergent formulated for the task

Prefer a wash free from synthetic fragrances, dyes, parabens and optical brighteners

Want a concentrated, biodegradable formula that isn't tested on animals

Always follow the care instructions supplied with your specific cloth nappies, as fibres, elastics and waterproof laminates can differ between systems.

Safety

Store upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
