If you've measured your doorway, hallway or stair opening and found it too wide for the gate as it comes, this is the piece that closes the gap.

Finished in white to match the gate, the 14cm extension is designed to work with the Munchkin Easy Close, Auto Close, and Safe Step Metal Gates. Extensions are sold in two sizes — 7cm and 14cm — so you can choose the one that fits your specific opening, or combine sizes to reach the width you need.

How it fits your gate

This is an accessory rather than a standalone barrier — it attaches to a compatible Munchkin metal gate to extend its overall length. The gates themselves use a double-locking handle that's designed to be manageable for adults but harder for little ones to work, and the steel construction carries through the extension for a consistent look and feel across the span.

Best For

The Munchkin Auto Close Metal Safety Gate 14cm Extension is a great option for parents who:

Already own a compatible Munchkin metal gate (Easy Close, Auto Close, or Safe Step) and need to fit it to a wider opening

Are closing off stair access or restricting rooms in a double-storey home for a child roughly 6 to 24 months old

Want the extension colour and steel finish to match their existing gate

It may not be the right fit if you:

Don't yet have one of the compatible Munchkin metal gates — the extension can't be used on its own

Need a smaller adjustment, in which case the 7cm extension may suit better

Good to know

Gate extensions are not included when you buy the gate itself, so they'll need to be purchased separately. As with any safety gate, correct installation for your opening and substrate matters — a gate and extension work as intended only when fitted and used according to the manufacturer's instructions, and adult supervision remains the primary safeguard.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0728/9559/4673/files/munchkin-auto-close-metal-safety-gate-14cm-extension-1.jpg?v=1784523049
