Because it opens to a distance of 21cm (8.25"), it's designed for handle pairs that sit too far apart for standard cabinet locks — a common gap in kitchen, bathroom, laundry, garage and living-area cabinetry.

It slides over both knobs or handles and snaps into a secure position with a smooth gliding action. It's made to be quick for adults to release while remaining difficult for young children to work out, so you can get in and out easily without leaving cupboards open to small hands.

How to use it

To open the lock, hold down the top and bottom at the same time and slide it free — a simple one-motion release once you've got the knack. It fits cabinets with mushroom-shaped knobs or D-shaped handles that are within 8.25" (21cm) of each other, so it's worth measuring the distance between your handles before fitting to confirm it will reach.

How it works

Gliding two-piece design: The lock snaps into place with a smooth gliding action, holding the two handles together until an adult releases it.

Simultaneous release: Pressing the top and bottom together at the same time is what frees the lock, a movement that's straightforward for adults but harder for young children to copy.

Extra-long reach: Opening to 21cm (8.25") lets it span handle pairs that closer-fitting locks can't reach.

Best for

The Dreambaby Cabinet Extra Long Glide Lock is a great option for parents who:

Have double cabinets or cupboards with knobs or handles set further apart than usual

Prefer a fuss-free lock that fits over existing mushroom knobs or D-shaped handles rather than requiring drilling into the cabinet

Want quick adult access to cupboards in high-hazard areas like the kitchen, bathroom, laundry or garage

It may not be the right fit if your cabinets have flat, recessed or non-mushroom handles, or if the handles sit more than 8.25" (21cm) apart.

Please note: No cabinet lock makes a home childproof.
